      Micro-lending program

      MICRO-LENDING PROGRAM STATUS REPORT

Being  born and raised in Paynesville, Liberia, I believe that my good works should begin in my home town.

So, we started the  micro lending program in my home church, Effort Baptist Church, through the Banyon Group of Enterprises, LLC.  We had intended to use the small amount as a revolving fund  to grow and lend to others, however, things did not go well.  Only 43%  is being repaid, slowly.

We received about 40 interested requests but were only able to lend to 7  applicants from the church and the Paynesville Community. The total  loaned was about USD 13,000.00.

About USD 9,000.00 covered transportation businesses,  USD 3,000.00 covered a photography and Videography business start up and the balance went to the Soap production industry.

All the small loans were greatly impacted by the COVID-19 go-slow in Liberia. With the closing of the schools and office workers on work from home or essential  staff only going to work, the repayment of the loans have been slower than we projected.

We also  had theft of one of the bikes and damage of the other two due to accidents.  The Photography industry is directly linked to  student ID card and special events, all put on hold for months here in Liberian due to the COVID-19.

With only 3 off the 7 loans being slowly repaid, this program is being placed on hold until new funding can be secured.  With the losses experienced, care will be taken in future lending.

We know that there is great need here for this program, for these micro loans beginning from  $500.00 USD.

I feel very happy that I was able to provide jobs or revenue streams for seven families.  This is being a part of the solution and not the problem.

There is a certain kind of joy that helping people brings and I really  want to do this for the rest of my life.

Please help us if you can.
